How We Rate Movers
This directory is operated by American National Movers LLC, a licensed household goods broker. Moving companies pay us to receive quote requests; that never affects ratings or reviews. How we stay fair ->
Ratings and Mover Scores are based only on customer reviews left on our site. They are calculated the same way for every company.
What goes into a rating
- Star ratings from customer reviews published on our site.
What never affects a rating
- FMCSA records such as insurance filings, safety ratings and years in business. These are shown on each profile as facts, separately from the rating.
- Complaints. These are shown in their own section on each profile.
- Whether a company pays for profile features or leads.
- Whether a company has claimed its profile.
- Whether the company is American National Movers.
Star colors
All stars on our site are blue. The number of filled stars shows the rating.
Mover Score: letter grades A+ to F
A company gets a Mover Score once at least 3 customers have reviewed it on our site. Until then its profile says "Not graded yet". The score is shown as a letter grade with the points behind it, is recalculated whenever a review is published or removed and every night, and each profile shows a 12-month trend.
The score is the company's own star average as a share of five stars: 5.0 stars is 100 points, 4.5 stars is 90 and 4.0 stars is 80. Reviews of other companies never affect it.
Grades follow the familiar A to F school scale. There is no E grade.
| Grade | Points (out of 100) |
|---|---|
| A+ | 97-100 |
| A | 94-96 |
| A- | 90-93 |
| B+ | 87-89 |
| B | 84-86 |
| B- | 80-83 |
| C+ | 77-79 |
| C | 74-76 |
| C- | 70-73 |
| D+ | 67-69 |
| D | 64-66 |
| D- | 60-63 |
| F | 0-59 |
Strengths and weaknesses
Each graded profile lists strengths and weaknesses taken only from its reviews on our site. Companies cannot write, edit or pay to change them. An item only appears when there is enough data behind it.
- Reviews (3 or more): an average of 4.0 or higher is a strength; below 3.0 is a weakness. Half or more of reviews from verified moves is a strength.
- Price (5 or more answers): 80% or more of reviewers saying the final price matched or beat the estimate is a strength; under 50% is a weakness.
Insurance information
Insurance filings on profiles come from the public FMCSA dataset, which can miss filings. A missing filing does not mean a company is uninsured. Each profile links to the company's FMCSA Motus page for its current insurance.
