    Worst experience ever!

  • They just abandoned my belongings in a storage unit

They stopped replying and had to send another company to rescue my items. They did attempt to hold my items hostage but the moving company that arrived were successful at extracting the belongings.

  • Delayed Delivery, Poor Communication, and Broken Trust

Fair Rate Movers customer · Oct 22, 2026 · Sent to us by email

My experience with Fair Rate Movers has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. The biggest issues have been the lack of communication, conflicting information, unexplained delays, and serious concerns about how our belongings have been handled. Communication with the company has been consistently difficult. In many cases, I had to initiate contact by calling or texting just to get an update. Getting a response from either the company representative or Jay was often a challenge, leaving me feeling ignored and uncertain about the status of my shipment. The information we received about the transportation arrangements also kept changing. Initially, we were told that our belongings might travel directly from pickup to delivery, or alternatively as part of a combined shipment. We agreed to the combined-load arrangement when it was presented as an acceptable option. However, we were given an estimated delivery window of 7–21 days, and the prolonged delay has raised serious concerns about the company's ability to manage and communicate its moving schedules. What is particularly troubling is learning that our belongings had reportedly been sitting in a storage unit in Washington State, despite our understanding that they would be taken to the company's warehouse in Portland, Oregon, where they would be color-coded to prevent them from being mixed up with another shipment. This raises important questions: Where exactly are our belongings being stored? Who is responsible for the storage unit? Who has access to our property? Why were we not clearly informed about these arrangements? When customers entrust a moving company with their personal belongings, they deserve transparency, accurate information, and regular updates. Being left to chase the company for answers while receiving conflicting explanations is unacceptable. The communication with Jay was particularly concerning, as I felt I could no longer trust the information being provided. At this point, I simply wanted a direct conversation, honest answers, and a clear explanation of where my belongings were and when they would be delivered. My biggest concern is not just the delay, but the complete breakdown of communication and trust. Customers should not have to repeatedly call and text a moving company to find out what is happening to their own property. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Fair Rate Movers. Anyone considering using this company should obtain clear written confirmation of delivery timelines, shipment locations, storage arrangements, and a reliable point of contact before handing over their belongings. Rating: 1 out of 5 stars.

  • Abandoned Shipment and Contract Dispute

Fair Rate Movers customer · Moved 2026-07 · Oct 21, 2026 · Sent to us by email

Extremely poor communication, unprofessional planning, and a frustrating moving experience. Our experience with Fair Rate Movers has been incredibly disappointing. What should have been a straightforward interstate move turned into a stressful dispute over pricing, logistics, and accountability. Our original contract clearly outlined a two-day move using two trucks, either two 26-foot trucks or one 26-foot truck and one 20-foot truck. The move took exactly the two days anticipated, and the actual truck space required was reportedly less than originally estimated. There was no undisclosed property, no additional time required, and no apparent change in the scope of the move to justify the additional charges being demanded. According to the movers on-site, the job could have been completed using a 26-foot truck and a 16-foot truck. Instead, a second 26-foot truck was sent, creating questions about whether the shipment could have been handled as originally planned. The communication from the company made matters worse. On the morning of July 11, 2026, the driver reportedly explained that he had been contracted to load the shipment and drive it to Arizona, with other jobs scheduled afterward. We were also told that the driver intended to drive directly to Arizona and wait until July 15, when unloading was scheduled to begin between 8 and 10 a.m. Based on these conversations, we believe poor scheduling and communication between Fair Rate Movers and its drivers contributed to the decision to treat the shipment as a dedicated truck rather than a shared load. This appears to have been a planning issue, not a problem caused by an inaccurate inventory or an underestimated shipment volume. Most concerning is the dispute over the original contract. We were unable to identify any provision allowing a third party to change the agreed arrangement from a shared load to a dedicated truck simply because of an alleged volume issue. We raised these concerns directly with the company and requested that the original contracted price be honored. Unfortunately, the experience has left us questioning the company's transparency, coordination, and willingness to take responsibility for its own logistical decisions. My advice to anyone considering Fair Rate Movers: Read every detail of your contract, get all pricing and transportation arrangements confirmed in writing, and do not assume that the original quoted price will be honored without a dispute. Make sure you understand exactly how your shipment will be transported and what circumstances, if any, could lead to additional charges. A moving company should provide clear communication, reliable planning, and accountability—not leave customers to deal with the consequences of internal scheduling problems. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Fair Rate Movers. Until these concerns are properly addressed, my rating is 1 out of 5 stars.
