Same Day Delivery On 5-10 Hours Long Distance Drives.
Looking for same-day delivery movers for a long-distance move can be challenging, but it is possible with American National Movers, as long as the mileage is within reason. As mentioned in previous articles, we can provide same-day delivery services as long as your long distance relocation doesn't exceed 600 miles. If your mileage exceed 600 miles, we still have fast long distance moving options available with a 1-3 day turn around time.
Why 600+ Miles Gets Tricky (it's time‑based, not miles).
What limits same-day delivery for long distance movers is the amount of time the FMCSA allows us to drive the truck. Federal safety rules (Hours‑of‑Service, or HOS) let a driver drive up to 11 hours inside a 14‑hour work window. Loading and unloading use up that 14‑hour window. After 8 hours of driving, the driver must take a 30‑minute break.
When you add it all up—load, drive, break, unload—a single driver can realistically cover about 450–600 miles in one day, depending on traffic and building access:
Loading Time.
The ability to deliver on the same day is also determined by how long it takes your long distance movers to load. Bigger homes, heavy items, and packing services (if needed) can consume a significant amount of time before we even start driving.
Traffic.
It's not just miles—it's congestion. In states like Florida and Texas, and in major metropolitan areas like Los Angeles and New York City, rush-hour waves, work zones, toll plazas, and weather can turn a straightforward route into a crawl. The driver's legal clock doesn't stop in traffic: Hours-of-Service is time-based, so minutes spent idling or detouring still count against the same 14-hour day. Across a full workday, a realistic pace averages closer to about 55 mph, plus a required 30‑minute break after eight hours of driving. That's why we push first‑slot pickups and plan around peak windows—so load, drive, and unload all fit inside the same day.
Delivery Access.
Unloading is where tight schedules often break, as it can take several hours to unload your shipment efficiently. A careful unload can take hours, and if we're having truck access issues, waiting on an elevator, or carrying 200 feet from the truck, every minute still runs against the driver's 14‑hour clock. For the best chance at same‑day delivery, reserve the elevator, secure a loading zone, and let us park close—those three steps keep the plan on schedule.
Same Day Long Distance Moving Services: Get A Quote.
At American National Movers, we can accommodate same-day delivery on routes ranging from 100 to 600 miles, as long as the load, drive, and unload all fit within the driver's legal day. For larger shipments or buildings with strict access windows, same‑day can be tight. If we can't deliver that evening because of building rules, traffic, or volume, we'll guarantee next‑day delivery instead—still faster than typical long‑distance windows.

If your route stretches beyond what a single driver can legally cover, we'll show you two options before you book: (1) a team‑driver same‑day plan (faster but higher cost), or (2) our Expedited Direct 2‑Day plan with a firm arrival time. Either way, we price it clearly and can add a BNTE cap so you know the ceiling.
